This is good news all across the board for both developers and for users.  By now allowing developers to upload multiple APK’s they will be able be more specific in targeting their audiences. They will be able to upload a tablet version of their app alongside the device version with out having to manage 2 different market versions or two different package names. The market will decide which APK is best for your screen size, Android version or  GL texture-compression formats. This new system will help many developers better target the users they are intended for. On the user side, you will see a single market entry with comments and ratings rather than finding one for HDPI, MDPI, tablet Android 2.3 or Android 2.2 for example. Making your life much easier and a lot more compatible.

Multiple APK support gives you a variety of ways to control app distribution. For example, you could use it to create separate APKs for phones and tablets under the same product listing. You could also use it to take advantage of new APIs or new hardware capabilities without impacting your existing customer base.
